Nisa-Today's Fits 130-Vehicle Temperature Controlled Fleet with TRACKER
Nisa-Today's, the UK's largest buying group for independent retail and wholesale companies, has fitted all 130 HGVs in its temperature control fleet with TRACKER Communicator vehicle asset management systems.
TRACKER Communicator, which utilises the latest GPS and GSM technology, enables fleet managers to access vehicle information, such as position and speed, via their own secure website, allowing companies to optimise the use of their fleets.
Tom Burns, account manager of chilled and freeze distribution at Nisa-Today's, said, "We looked at five suppliers but we chose TRACKER Communicator, because it was easy to use. It's web-based and the site is straight-forward to navigate around and reports are simple to set up and read."
He added: "In combination with a new engine management system we are expecting to make a substantial saving on fleet costs."
With Nisa-Today's temperature controlled fleet making more than 9,000 deliveries every week, it became clear that an ability to monitor their vehicles would be valuable. Thus with TRACKER Communicator the service team can now react and pin-point problems immediately, evaluate journeys ensuring planned routes and drop-offs are followed and driving standards are being upheld (i.e. speeding), analyse weekly reports to identify patterns in diesel usage and mileage travelled, and of course reduce phone bills due to a reduction of "Where are you?" calls.
Mr Burns added: "We have even used it to scrutinise our congestion charge invoices and have been successful in disputing some of the charges we've been incorrectly invoiced for."
In addition, the system is allowing Nisa-Today's to improve, yet further, their customer service, enabling a quicker and more professional response to delivery queries.
Mr Burns added, "Before TRACKER it was sometimes difficult to find where drivers were. When advising members of delays we can now be proactive rather than reactive and this diffuses a lot of issues. We can actually ring customers and tell them about delays before they even know."
TRACKER Helps Hire Company Keep 2,500 Vehicle Fleet in Tip-Top Condition
A team of service engineers from one of the country's leading specialist vehicle hire companies, Municipal Hire Services (MHS), has been given an extra competitive edge after having TRACKER Communicator fleet management systems installed in its field service and breakdown response vehicles.
MHS supplies local authorities and other municipal bodies across the country with a variety of vehicles including those used for refuse collection, street cleansing, waste transportation, highways maintenance and many more. Now after only a short period working with TRACKER Communicator the company is achieving faster response times, greater customer satisfaction and is also saving on fuel bills due to more accurate and efficient deployment.
The 25 TRACKER Communicator systems fitted to the service engineers' vehicles allow the company's central service team to pin-point the exact location and status of each engineer immediately and also to direct the nearest to any unscheduled work, such as a breakdown, in the quickest possible time. The service team is also able to pro-actively reassure the customer as to an engineer's whereabouts and when they are likely to arrive to deal with their problems.
Before TRACKER Communicator was installed, the engineers had to keep in touch with base via telephone, which put a huge strain on the service team, keeping track of every vehicle and deploying it effectively. In addition the team had no real way of telling how long an engineer was from their destination.
Kevin Spiers, central facilities manager, said, "TRACKER is a very important tool that helps us do our job better and maintain the levels of service our existing customers expect. The fact that we have TRACKER in our vehicles also compliments the MHS brand, which stands for reliability, quality, flexibility and responsiveness. We would certainly recommend TRACKER to other fleet operators and do so on an ongoing basis."
